Grant Boone and I are spending 78% of our waking time and 93% of our brain power (which might be 34% of the average human) considering the deeper issues in life, namely, the new Will Ferrell movie, Anchorman. We have high standards, Grant and I. Here is a sampling of this high brow script.
Ron Burgundy (the anchorman) comes home to his apartment and has an verbal exchange with his dog. Ron's dog barks and Ron interprets what he is saying. Here is the exchange:
Ron to his dog: "You pooped in the refrigerator? You actually pooped in my refrigerator?
Bark, bark.
Ron: So if I go open up the refrigerator there'll be poop in there?
Bark!
Ron:How did you do that?
Bark, bark.
Ron: No, I'm not even mad. That's amazing."
Is it any wonder why Grant and I LOVE this movie?

I just took one of my interns to have lunch, and then we saw "Anchorman". As funny as I had hoped it would be, it wasn't. There were about 100 people in the theatre, and the only time people laughed, including me, was during the outakes in the credits. The only half-redeeming line was when the weather dude said...
- "I pooped a hammer"
- "I ate a bunch of fiberglass. It wasn't cotton candy like that man said. My stomach itches."
1 out of 4 possible stars.
My favorite part, by far, was when Jack Black kicked his yappy little dog off the bridge, sending Ron into an emotional breakdown of biblical proportions! (From the phone booth: "I'm traaaaaapped in a glaaaaass cage of despairrrrrrrWAHHHHHH!")

Blasphemy! I can't believe I pumped you up yesterday on my blog and now what? You turn your back on me and go all "Siskel at the movies" on me and dis an instant classic. That one hurt Sam. I'm really disappointed. I thought I mentored you better. If you can't get silly stupid over Jack Black punting a dog off a bridge and saying "that's the way I roll" then what has the world come to.
